Role of the CWCHB
The Board consults with community residents, groups and organizations to determine the priority health issues affecting people of all ages in the community. Together with other groups, the Board supports many different community activities that aim to improve health.
As part of its mandate in accordance with the Health Authority Act - Bill 34, the Chebucto West Community Health Board submits a Community Health Plan or update to Capital Health annually.
Our Role
- Foster community development
- Identify factors that affect health and local health issues
- Develop a yearly Community Health Plan
- Participate in health planning
- Maintain a list of local community based health programs and services
- Partner with local community groups and organizations through the Community Development Fund
- Encourage community groups to address the "Determinants of Health"
